Dixon Passes Away
Former Reading FC striker Tommy Dixon has died, aged 84.
Born in Newcastle, Tommy signed for his home town club as an Amateur. However, he failed to make an appearance for the first team, and when West Ham United offered him a professional contract he joined the Upton Park club in 1951 and, two years later, made his League debut.
He scored an impressive 25 goals in 44 League and Cup appearances for the ‘Hammers' before joining Reading in 1954.
He continued his fine goal scoring form at Elm Park with an enviable record of 76 goals in 143 games.
He left the club in 1958 to join Brighton & Hove Albion before settling in retirement in London.
Reading FC and the Former Player' Association would like to pass on their sincere condolences to Tommy's family and friends.
