Association Give Charity Huge Cash Boost
THE Reading FC Former Players Association (FPA) has handed over more than £6000 to the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre.
FPA vice-chairman and former Royals star George Friel made the donation last week, along with board members Ron Grant and Tasha Pettiford-White.
Together they presented Jackie Malcolm, fundraiser at the therapy centre, with a cheque for £6159.
The FPA has spent the past 12 months raising money for the centre on the Oxford Road having chosen it as its charity of the year because of the help it gave former Royals defender Chris Armstrong who retired in 2011 having been diagnosed with MS.
They put on many events, including the John Motson sporting dinner in November at the Penta Hotel.
FPA chairman Richard Wickson said: "We were pleased that we could give something back to the MS Therapy Centre for all the help that they gave Chris and his family after his diagnosis.
"We do as much as we can to help local charities so it was a privilege that we could help the centre in this way."
