Association Attends MS Birthday Party
The Berkshire MS Therapy Centre celebrated its 30th birthday on Wednesday 20th August by organising a Tea Party in the grounds of Bradbury House. Over 100 people gathered together in the sunshine to enjoy themselves and acknowledge the good work that the Centre has done forpeople suffering from MS in the area.
Patron Martin Salter (former MP for Reading West) gave an excellent speech which included a potted history of the Centre and how it moved from 2 portakabins in Caversham to the purpose built centre in Reading West where it stands today.
Also in attendance was patron Sir John Madejski who is also the patron of Reading FC Former Players Association. Earlier this year the FPA presented the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre with a cheque for £6,159.33, the proceeds of the Sportsman’s Dinner they held in November to raise much needed funds for the charity. The FPA chose to support the Centre as former Reading player, Chris Armstrong, was diagnosed with MS in 2009 and was a regular user of the High Density Oxygen Chamber.
Enjoying the party were FPA members Richard Wickson, Helen Waring and Ron Grant with Sir John and everyone at the centre was delighted to see them all.
