An Evening with Brian McDermott
The former Reading FC manager Brian McDermott makes a welcome return to Reading when he appears at the Tilehurst British Legion Club on Thursday, 16 October at 7.30pm.
The evening, ‘An Evening with Brian McDermott’, has been organised by the Reading FC Former Players’ Association in aid of the Reading based homeless charity, Launchpad.
Football fans will get the chance to ask Brian questions in an exclusive question and answer session hosted by former Reading FC captain and Wales international Ady Williams.
Brian led the Royals to only their second stint in the top flight of English football when managed them to promotion in 2012/13 season.
Williams, now a very popular BBC Radio Berkshire Sports presenter, says,
"It will be a great evening. Brian is a real football man. He’s seen it all as a top footballer with Arsenal; as a coach and successful manager with Reading. He is a very likeable, amiable man and was very popular with the Reading fans"
Despite guiding Reading to Premier League promotion and winning the League Managers Association Championship Manager of the Year in 2012, he left the club almost a year later.
Williams continues, ’I think Brian will feel that this is his way of thanking the fans for their support whilst he was at Reading. He never got the chance to say good bye’
