1993-94 Champions Reunion Dinner
On Thursday, 27 November 2014 the Reading FC Former Players Association will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Reading FC winning the Division Two title, topping the table with 89 points in total to pip Port Vale and become Champions.
The great Reading players of that memorable season will be coming together to celebrate the occasion with a special reunion dinner.
This will be your chance of meeting up with the legends of that great season. * Phil Parkinson, Jimmy Quinn, Ady Williams, Stuart Lovell, Shaka Hislop and Michael Gilkes are only some of the names attending this great night of celebration. Also attending will be the Associations Patron Sir John Madejski, former Manager Steve Coppell and former Reading FC and England player and Sky sports pundit John Salako who is an Ambassador for Reading charity Launchpad. *Attendance is subject to availability.
The evening will be hosted by Mike Lewis. Mike was Managing Director of the football club at the time and later became a very popular presenter with BBC Radio Berkshire.
The organisers are also pleased to invite guest speaker, and helping the evening along, will be former Premier and FIFA world cup referee, Dermot Gallagher (pictured left). Dermot, with over a thousand Premier League games under his belt, has many amusing anecdotes to tell, and a lot of them about the Reading players attending!
Richard Wickson, Chairman of the Former Players’ Association, said, “The event should prove a very enjoyable evening. No doubt Dermot will give the former players a lot of ribbing. He has a few good stories to tell.”
Reading FC Former players Association, the organisers, will make a donation to Launchpad, a Reading charity supporting the homeless of the Town. Launchpad, formerly known as Reading Single Homeless Project until 2011, is a charity that helps some of Reading’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged people. Launchpad began by running a soup kitchen 35 years ago, and still carry on their good work today.
Amanda Rose, Marketing manager of Launchpad, said “We are indebted to the Reading FC FPA, for choosing us as their Charity of the year. They are organising a number of social functions to help us raise much need funds.”
Tickets are priced at £50 and includes a 3 course meal and half a bottle of wine per person. Group booking are priced at £500 for a table of ten.
