Reading FC legend Glen Little promises to thrill fans
Glen Little has promised fans a night packed full of fun stories when he is the star of the Reading Former Players' Association's next showpiece event.
The flying winger, who was one of the heros of Steve Coppell’s all conquering Championship winning side of 2005/06, will be the main attraction at ‘An evening with Glen Little’ on Thursday, May 14.
The event will be held at RYND Bar in Castle Street and will be hosted by Reading legend Ady Williams.
So it’s all set up to a be quite a night, one that the hugely popular Little promises should not be missed.
“There might be a few stories,” he laughed. "I don’t think the night will be long enough. People have to get home in the morning won’t they?”
The FPA puts on a series of events throughout the year and chairman Richard Wickson has been very keen to get one sorted with Little.
But, as the 39-year-old explains, it’s taken some time because he is still currently playing in non-league circles with Grays Athletic.
“Whenever I speak to Richie he’s always tried to get me involved at the club,” said Little.
Glen Little celebrates with his son after the 2005-06 season.
“He’s talked about doing a few hospitality days and things like that but because I’m still playing I haven’t really been able to help him out.
“But he’s always kept in touch and when I saw him at a game a couple of weeks back he said what about doing a night at the end of the season?
“And I said yes, no problem. I know Ady well so it should be a good night. I’ve done a few things with him before and we’ve had a good time working together.”
Wickson added: “It will be a great evening. Glen is very popular with the Reading fans. He is a very likeable, amiable man and very amusing.”
Tickets for the event are available at £20 from the Reading FC Former Players’ website at www.readingfcformerplayers.co.uk/events. Doors open at 7pm for an 8pm start.
The entrance fee includes a fish and chip supper, and fans will have a chance to win a Reading FC shirt signed by the 2014/15 championship and FA Cup semi-final squad in a raffle draw.
