Although born in Southampton, Andy came through the Reading FC Youth system under the paronage of former Reading legend and Youth coaches Bobby Williams and Stewart Henderson.

Unfortunately, for Andy he came to the fringes of the first team at a time when Jimmy Quinn and Stuart Lovell were a prominent and formidable strike force partnership and Gray was unable to break that partnership.

With first team chances restricted to only eight appearances plus 9 from the subs bench, Andy left Elm Park and joined Leyton Orient in July 1994.

Despite limited appearances his scored four goals.

Andy has been a regular in the Former Players Charity team for over 15 years.
