David joined Reading from Fulham in March 1950.
His professional League career was delayed by the outbreak of World War Two. Davis was aged 26 by the time he made his League debut for Fulham in May 1945.
Initially a full-back, he had moved to left half by the time he moved to Elm Park.
He went straight into thefirst team and his cool and cultured play saw him keep his place to the end of the 1949/50 season, scoring his only goal for Reading in the 1-1 draw against Walsall at Elm Park in April.
The signing of Jimmy Johnstone in the summer, left David to make one more appearance in 1950/51 season before he left Reading to return to Fulham and then onto Watford where he made over 100 appearances.
David passed away on 6 March 2013, aged 92.
