It was whilst playing for Fulham in a Football League cup-tie against Reading that brought him to the attention of Reading manager Charlie Hurley.

David impressed Hurley so much that it took the Elm Park boss 18 months to lure Moreline away from Craven Cottage.

The classy defender eventually joined Reading in 1974 and he went on to play an influential part in Readings 1975/76 promotion campaign and in the 1978/79 Fourth Division championship winning season.

David went on to make 192 League and Cup appearances before retiring from the game in 1980.
