Whilst it goes without saying that today’s football is much more of a media circus, do you ever wonder as to how much the wider footballing community missed out on our very own footballing personalities, a Johnny Walker for example, a Robin Friday…
The media circus surrounding football hasn’t always been what it is today but Reading Football Club has been in existence for 145 years during which time, many players have graced the hallowed turf of Elm Park and Madejski Stadium. In fact, between our 200 members alone, they have racked up over 17,500 league and cup appearances for the mighty Reading Football Club and for us fans, and ex-players, these efforts shouldn’t be forgotten.
We therefore continue the work started by Mr Keith Orwin as we play charity football matches, organise golf days and sporting dinners, all with the aim of:
- Reuniting colleagues, former players and managers of Reading Football Club
- Providing help to our members, including, but not limited to, social and welfare support
- Giving a voice to its members
- Continuing to run as a non-profit organisation with any surplus donated to local charities connected to the association or Reading Football Club
