The Reading FC Former Players’ Association are delighted to present an evening with current First Team Coach Mikele Leigertwood and Assistant Manager Nigel Gibbs. Both Mikele and Nigel have a rich history at Reading Football Club with Nigel returning for his third spell with the Royals when Noel Hunt was appointed manager last month. Nigel’s initial role was working alongside Brian McDermott with Reading’s reserve side. His success saw the reserves claim the Premiership Reserve League title and led to the pair taking charge of the first team in 2010. Reading reached the Championship play-off final in 2011 before losing to Swansea City but secured promotion to the Premier League under Gibbs and McDermott’s guidance the following season, winning the Championship title.

Former Reading FC player Mikele Leigertwood moved into coaching after a successful playing career. After arriving on loan from Queens Park Rangers in November 2010 he made an immediate impact in the first team playing under Gibbs and McDermott. His loan became a permanent move in the summer of 2011 with Mikele making 41 league appearances as the Royals won the league. Leigertwood wrapped his playing career with Reading in 2014 with over 100 appearances in all competitions and 10 goals. Mikele joined Reading’s coaching staff two years later and become Under 18s manager for the 2019/20 season.

Proceeds from this event will be distributed to the Association’s charities.
