Whilst a junior for Reading, Chris represented Berks & Bucks in the FA Youth championship and for the National Association of Boys Clubs.

Chris was a speedy outside right who made his debut in August 1958 at Newport County but, although he showed a handy goalscoring knack in his first two seasons, he could never be sure of his first team place.

His best spell came at the start of 1961/62 when Chris scored a hat-trick at QPR as Reading headed Division Three early on.

Chris passed away in 2010, aged 60.
